Invitation to the VERITY Focus Group on Trust in Science and Renewable Energy
We are excited to invite you to join our VERITY project focus group. Your participation will provide the opportunity to explore and discuss the issue of trust in science in the context of public debates on renewable energy and wind turbines in Belgium. Your insights are invaluable to us and will shape the project results.
Date: 17 November 2023
Place: Mundo Matongé (Mundo-b)
Rue d'Edimbourg 26, 1050 Ixelles, Belgium
What to expect:
In this focus group activity, we will discuss the issue of trust in science in the debates around renewable energy and wind turbines in Belgium. The focus group will be a space for deliberation among actors standing on different sides of this debate. It will bring together 10-20 participants including academics, educators, policymakers, industry, journalists, influencers or (digital) activists, and representatives of civil society organisations (CSO). We can host up to two individuals from the same organisation.
The focus group format will be interactive and be based on an exchange of different perspectives on wind energy, societal trust or mistrust in science, scientists, and other institutions in this context, and tools and strategies to address science scepticism.
Who are we?
This focus group is a part of the EU-funded project VERITY (deVEloping scientific Research with ethIcs and inTegritY), which seeks to understand the reasons behind the public’s trust or mistrust in scientific research on certain topics. For further information about the project, please visit our website www.verityproject.eu.
Please note that:
Refreshments and lunch will be provided and we will cover the transportation costs. Participants will receive a courtesy voucher after the event.
